Neisha Crosland Fabric by the Yard

Neisha Crosland is one of Britain's most distinguished and decorated pattern designers — a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI), Honorary Fellow of the University of Arts London, and the author of Life of a Pattern (2017), a book that reflects her position as one of the foremost thinkers about pattern, repetition, and the relationship between design and nature. Her fabric collection for Schumacher distils the essence of her practice: elegant, well-balanced repeats of geometrics and flowers, unusual colour combinations, and a commitment to finding a fresh point of view in even the most familiar pattern traditions. At The WorkRoom, we carry the complete Neisha Crosland fabric collection as an authorised Schumacher dealer, with samples available.

About Neisha Crosland

Neisha Crosland trained in printed textiles at Camberwell School of Art before completing her studies at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1994 she launched her own eponymous label producing scarves for international fashion retailers — building the pattern vocabulary and colour intelligence that would define her later work across tiles, rugs, wallpapers, fabrics, flooring, and stationery. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the V&A and Geffrye Museums. In 2006 she was honoured with the Royal Designer for Industry distinction, one of the most prestigious awards in British design. Her philosophy is precise: there is no point designing anything unless it brings a genuinely fresh perspective to its pattern tradition.

The Neisha Crosland Fabric Aesthetic

Crosland's fabric designs are characterised by the clarity and balance of their repeat structures — patterns that are geometrically considered, optically satisfying, and colour-intelligent in ways that reveal new aspects the longer you look at them. Where many designers approach pattern as decoration, Crosland approaches it as a formal discipline: the relationship between positive and negative space, the rhythm of the repeat, the way colour relationships shift across the surface of a fabric. The result is a collection that works with the same reliability and sophistication across upholstery, drapery, and decorative applications.
