How can I place an order?

The WorkRoom LLC accepts orders online and by telephone. When an order is complete, an e-mail notification will be sent to you confirming your order and giving you a Purchase Order (PO) number.  For luxury brand orders that are not listed on our web site, please call or email us to order.

Do you keep stock?

We do not hold any stock or track stock on this website. All orders are shipped on demand directly from each brand.  If you would like to confirm the stock quantity, please call, email or use our live chat option.  We are always happy to check stock for you.

Are our items first quality?

Absolutely, we order fabric directly from the manufacturers and all items are first quality and authenticity are guaranteed. TheWorkRm only sells first quality merchandise.  We are an authorized dealer for all the brands listed on our web site.

What forms of payment do you accept?

TheWorkRoom accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, PayPal, Apple Pay, ShopPay and wire transfers.  We do not accept cash, checks or money orders.

Our fabrics and trims are sold by the yard (1 = 1 yard). Tassels and tie backs are sold in units of one (1 =1). Wallpapers are sold by the roll, double roll, panel or by the yard.  Please refer to the individual product page to see the applicable unit of measure of your pattern. When entering an order please place the number of yards or rolls required in the quantity box and hit add to cart.  We regret all orders must be in full yards.

What is the minimum order?

The minimum order in most cases is one yard for fabric and trim and one roll of wallpaper. Products that have larger minimums are usually specified on each product page.

However, certain manufacturers such as Ralph Lauren, Sandberg, Schumacher and Scalamandre require a two-yard for all fabric patterns or two-roll minimum for wallpaper on patterns priced/sold by the roll. Some outlet items require three or five-yard minimums.

For wallpapers sold by the yard from Innovations, Phillip Jeffries, Schumacher, Scalamandre & Winfield Thybony; all have minimum orders with order increment requirements.  Please contact us for questions.

Examples of minimum orders:

Innovations: 10 or 12 depending on pattern with order increment requirement

Phillip Jeffries: 8, 12,15 or 24 yards depending on pattern.  All vinyl items have 15 yard minimum order.  Once minimum is met, there are order increment requirements.

Schumacher: 8, 9, 10 or 20 depending on pattern

Please note that some of our products have minimum order requirements or order increments. If these requirements aren't met when placing your order, we'll either update your order with a new invoice to meet the minimum or give you the option to cancel. Our goal is to make sure you get exactly what you need, without any hassle.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Most stock orders ship within 8 -72 hours after receipt of order. If an item is not in stock, we will advise you of the estimated ship date.

If a product is available it will arrive within two to five business days once it ships in most cases. Manufacturers ship directly to our customers and use UPS, USPS or FedEx Ground unless expedited shipping is requested.   All Andrew Martin, Cole & Son, Clarke & Clarke, Phillip Jeffries vinyl items and JF Wallpapers are mill drop items and can take up to 15 business days to arrive.

We will send you the tracking number as soon as your order ships.

What happens if my product is on back-order?

The Workroom LLC will notify all customers if a product is back-ordered and will only process the order upon approval by the customer of the back-order date. Because the order will ship directly from the manufacturer, we will process your payment at the time your order is placed. If the customer wants to cancel the order because of the back-order date, your credit card or PayPal will be refunded in full.

Sales Tax

The seller is required by law to collect sales tax on all orders delivered to destinations within the US that require state sales tax. The buyer is responsible for checking local laws to determine if they are subject to any additional sales and use taxes or duties.

Order Cancellations

If we can cancel the order before shipment from the manufacturer, there will be a full refund. However, if the order has shipped, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded. Please be careful to check invoices and call or email us immediately if you wish to cancel or make changes.

Our system is set up so orders ship as soon as possible.  Once the order is cut to ship, it cannot be cancelled or returned for other reasons than manufacturer defect. For more information on our return policy, please refer to our return policy.

Occasionally, we might need to cancel your order for the following reasons:

  • Unauthorized credit card transaction flagged by our processor
  • Item is no longer available or discontinued
  • Pricing discrepancy
  • Minimum order / order increment discrepancy
  • Incorrect shipping selected - swatch shipping is for swatches only.
  • If an order is cancelled, no charge will be applied to your credit card.

Is fabric or wallpaper returnable?

All of our fabric and wallpaper are custom-ordered for you and we regret that we are unable to accept returns on any order.  We highly recommend ordering a sample or cutting before placing a firm order.

We will accept returns due to manufacturer defects or shipping damage only.  All returns require a return material authorization (RMA).  NO CLAIMS WILL BE ACCEPTED IF THE FABRIC OR WALLPAPER IS CUT.

If you receive a fabric or wallpaper that is defective*, please email us at or call us at 800-497-8042 immediately after receipt. We will issue a call ticket for the defective item and promptly ship out the replacement fabric. If stock is not available, you also have the option of getting a full refund.

Upon receipt of material, carefully inspect before cutting.  Confirm that you’ve received the correct item and quantity.  Fabrics are often rolled backwards.

All damage claims must be made within 15 days of receipt.

No returns will be accepted if cutting or alteration has been made to the merchandise or if wallpaper has been cut or hung -- please inspect before using.

*Dye lot issues are not defects and will not be accepted for returns.  A sample comes from a random dye lot and it's for the sole purpose of determining if you want that particular design.  Samples are not dye lot specific.  Actual dye lots can vary from samples.

Please see our "return policy" under returns/exchange.

Why can't I see images online?

Our product database includes the most popular fabric patterns along with their images. However, due to the sheer volume of fabric patterns available (currently there are over 300,000 patterns and colorways from our various vendors), our system might miss a few.  Our system works best if you know the vendor and the pattern that you want, and if you are looking for an online source for that pattern.

Please also note that you can specify your order as a cut-for-approval (CFA), which means that we will send you a cutting of the fabric that has been reserved specifically for you. Once you approve the cutting, we will ship the order. While this delays your order a few days, it will ensure that you get the exact dye lot and fabric that you wanted. If you would like this option, please specify "CFA required" in the "comment" section of the checkout page.  CFA is not available on most wallpapers.

To The Trade Only Lines

Looking for Trade-Exclusive Designers? We Can Help!

Due to manufacturer restrictions, we can't display images or prices online. However, we can still provide you with luxury line fabrics, wallpaper, furniture, and home furnishings at competitive prices with our signature fast service.

Contact us via  live chat  email or by phone at 800-497-8042.

Note: We are an authorized reseller for all the brands listed below and many more. First quality guaranteed.

Can you get discontinued fabric?

Our vendors frequently discontinue fabrics either to make room for new products or if the mill no longer produces the pattern.

We regret that we cannot offer discontinued fabrics. If you know a pattern is discontinued, your best bet is to choose an alternative.

What if I can't see the pattern I'm looking for?

If you cannot locate the pattern needed, either it may be too new or it may be discontinued. In either case, please email us and we will be more than happy to assist you. We are unable to order discontinued pattern.

How do I order a sample?

We offer swatches or samples for $6.00 each.  To order samples please click on add sample on the product page.   Due to the high demand for samples.  Only 1 sample allowed per colorway.

Each fabric pattern will list a swatch option, where you can check out just like any other standard product.  One sample per pattern is only allowed on each order.   Pindler and outlet items do not have samples available.

Swatches/samples are mailed by first class mail in most cases and may take up to 10 business days to arrive. They cannot be expedited.  If you do not receive a swatch in 10 business days, please let us know.  If your order consists of multiple swatches from different vendors, they will come in separate shipments.

Note: samples are randomly cut and dye lots are not guaranteed. If you need to see the exact color of the fabric, we recommend ordering a cut for approval with your fabric order.  A sample comes from a random dye lot and its purpose is for you to determine if you want that particular design.  A CFA (see below) is for the purpose of matching colors. It comes from the specific dye lot that you will receive when you place an order and specifically request a CFA.

Occasionally your swatch might be out of stock, in which case we will advise you accordingly. You are not obligated to return the samples.  They are yours to keep.  However, if you would like us to recycle them, please return them in the provided envelopes. Please disregard any notes or instructions that may come with your samples.  We drop ship directly from our manufacturers and these instructions do not apply to you as our clients. Swatch sizes range from 4" x 4" to a full repeat.  They are cut randomly.  We are unable to order swatches in specific sizes, it is up to the discretion of each brand.  If you need a large sample of fabric, we recommend ordering a whole yard. The swatch fee is to cover our administrative, material and shipping costs.  It is not refundable.

Samples are not available on outlet items, limited stock items and all Pindler patterns.

What is a cut for approval?

A cut for approval (CFA) is an actual cutting of material from your order. This option is recommended if you need to match a particular dye lot or if you want to see exactly what you'll be receiving.  Dye lots can vary from shipment to shipment, for this reason, we cannot guarantee an exact match to your sample book.  If a color match is critical, we suggest you order a CFA.  CFAs are only available on in stock fabrics shipping to US addresses.  All CFA requests must be called in at 800-497-8042.  We are not responsible for orders placed online without contacting us first for a CFA via telephone.

It is required that you place an actual order so that we can reserve the required quantity.  There are minimum orders for most CFA requests, they vary from vendor to vendor and are only available for in stock fabrics.  Please contact us to place a CFA order or with any questions.

Once we receive your order, we will reserve the quantity and send you a cutting of the reserved material. We will only ship the full order once you approve it. Your credit card only gets charged if the order ships.

There is no charge for the cut for approval service. Note that it will delay the shipment of your order for a few days due to processing time.

CFAs are not available on Clarke & Clarke items, items that ship direct from overseas mills and all wallpapers except for Phillip Jeffries naturals.

Fabric & Wallpaper Search

To find patterns you have a couple of options.  If you know the pattern name or number, simply type it in the search option (located in upper right corner - click on the magnifying glass icon).  You can also simply type any key words in the search option to start a more limited search.  You can also search by brand, type of fabric, color & pattern by selecting the appropriate drop-down menus.

How to pick the right fabric for the job:

Fabric Abrasion & Double Rubs

If you ask most designers, they would tell you they only use an upholstery fabric if it has a high abrasion rating. If most designers think this way, then high-abrasion fabrics must be superior. Well, not necessarily. Although abrasion ratings are important, they aren’t the only factor to consider when choosing upholstery for a project.

If a fabric is below 50,000 double rubs the quality is poor?  The answer may surprise you. This statement couldn’t be falser! In fact, abrasion as low as 15,000 is suitable for light to moderate use. Think dining room chairs and formal sitting areas where the furniture is not used every day. Even for your family room, 25,000 double rubs is more than enough and will last years before showing any signs of wear and tear.

Here’s the truth: abrasion is important, but not the only specification that should guide your selection. Below are a few other specifications that should factor into your decision:

Pilling. Just because a fabric has high abrasion, doesn’t guarantee it won’t pill. A fabric pills when another fabric rubs against it, loosening some of the fibers and forming a ball. This can be resolved with a shaver; however, it might require more maintenance than you bargained for.

Seam slippage. Some fabrics with lower seam slippage will loosen when pressure is placed on the seam. This doesn’t make the quality of one better or worse. Quality manufactures have a good understanding of fabric weave constructions and will take steps to prevent seam slippage.  A fabric can be backed or double seamed during fabrication.

Breaking strength. Some fibers, such as silk, aren’t strong enough to withstand pressure and will split with minimal use.

Tear strength. This is the measurement of how easy a fabric will tear once the fabric has been compromised.

Traveling. Fabrics that have a pile on both sides, like chenille and some velvets, may not be backed. For these types of fabrics, backing is necessary when the fabric is used on a cushion or anything that isn’t tightly upholstered. Without backing, the pile will rub against the cushion and “travel,” making the cushion appear unkempt. This can be avoided by adding a light backing to the fabric or covering the cushion with a smooth fabric made of cotton so the pile can’t grab onto the cushion and travel.

Dry Crocking. Dry crocking is the tendency of dye to rub off of a fabric when rubbed against a porous surface. Dry crocking is most common with deeply saturated colors and in fabrics made with all-natural fibers.

Wet Crocking. Wet crocking occurs when dye rubs off of a wet fabric when it is rubbed against a porous surface. This could be problematic for spot cleaning.

Color fastness to water. This is the measure of a color’s resistance to running off of the fabric when immersed in water. Take color fastness into consideration for bedding, pillows and other items that may require washing from time to time.

Color fastness to light. This measures the performance of fabrics exposed to light. Although direct sunlight will fade any fabric, color fastness to light measures the rate of fading. This is key for window treatment or any fabric that will be exposed to natural, or in some cases even unnatural, light. Typically, natural fibers such as linen, cotton and silk will rate low and fade relatively quickly in direct sunlight, while synthetic fibers like polyester have the best ratings.

Get the right fabric for the right job, by understanding abrasion and these additional ratings, you will make the right choices for your project.

How to measure for wallpaper

The following is a general guideline to estimate how much wallpaper you will need. We highly recommend that you consult with your professional wallpaper hangers to get the exact amount needed. We are not responsible for any discrepancies in the use of this tool.

Make sure your order the right amount

It is better to have more wallpaper than not enough when you take up a wallpaper project. This is because papers are produced in different lots and they can have variance in colors.  If you don't order enough, the next batch might not be in the same dye lot.

Each batch is identified by a run number printed on each roll.   We recommend that you check all bolts to make sure they have the same number before unrolling them. It is important to have extra on hand for future repair if needed.

How to calculate how much wallpaper you will need

To calculate how much you'll need:
1) Measure the height and width of each wall, including all openings. Multiply the two figures to get the total area in square feet.

For example, if your wall is 10 feet wide by 12 feet height, your total square feet for that wall is 10x12 = 120 square feet.
2) Add the square footage of all walls to determine the total area.

3) Deduct 15 square feet for every average size door or window.
4) For large or untypical sized openings, measure the height and width of each opening and deduct the exact square footage from your total.

NOTE: For some large repeat wallpapers, no deductions should be made for openings.   Please also take into account for waste. Waste typically runs 10-20% depending on pattern.  The bigger the pattern the more the waste.

Keep in mind that the above is to be used as an estimator only.  It's best to consult with your hanger to determine the exact amount, as there might be variance that will affect the amount needed (such as large pattern repeats, baseboards & molding, large doors or windows etc.)

If you require assistance specifying your order, please contact our design staff. (800) 497-8042.
