How Tape Trim is Used

Tape trim's flat, ribbon-like form makes it the most practical and adaptable of all trim types. Applied at the leading edge of drapery panels, it creates a precise, frame-like finish that defines the panel edge against the wall. At cushion borders, tape provides a cleaner, flatter finish than cord or fringe — particularly suited to upholstered pieces with geometric, contemporary, or formal aesthetic character. At upholstery seams on chairs and sofas, tape creates a decorative line that highlights the piece's structure and proportions. Tape also serves as decorative detail in its own right when applied to plain wall surfaces, headboards, or lampshades as applied geometric banding.
