Stripe Fabric by the Yard

Stripe fabric is one of the oldest and most enduring pattern traditions in residential textiles — used across every culture, period, and design tradition from ticking and awning stripes through formal regency and mattress stripes to contemporary graphic and irregular stripes. At The WorkRoom, our stripe fabric collection spans woven, printed, velvet, and performance stripe constructions from leading luxury brands including Schumacher, Kravet, Lee Jofa, Brunschwig & Fils, and more.

Types of Stripe Fabric

Woven stripes are the most durable and most formally considered — the colour is inherent in the weave structure rather than printed on the surface, making woven stripes colourfast, reversible, and visually richer than printed equivalents. Regency, mattress, and ticking stripes are all typically woven. Printed stripes offer the broadest colour variety and the most contemporary graphic possibilities. Velvet stripes alternate pile and cut-pile in the same fabric to create the most luxurious and tactile stripe expression. Performance stripes extend the most popular residential stripe aesthetics into durable, easy-clean constructions for active households.

Stripe Fabric for Upholstery and Drapery

Stripe fabric is equally at home in upholstery and drapery applications. Vertical stripes on drapery panels create the most classical and architecturally elongating effect — particularly effective in rooms with standard ceiling heights where the vertical emphasis adds apparent height. Horizontal stripes on upholstery cushions create a casual, relaxed informality. Diagonal stripes on accent pieces create dynamic visual movement. Pattern placement at cutting is critical with stripe fabric — ensure sufficient yardage for proper pattern matching at seams.
