What Traditional & Decorative Fabric Encompasses

Damasks weave tone-on-tone pattern — the woven interlacing of two different weave structures in the same colour creates patterns visible through sheen contrast rather than colour contrast. Brocades add a supplementary weft thread to create raised, embossed-looking pattern on the fabric surface. Tapestry weaves reproduce pictorial or ornamental imagery in a heavy, woven medium with the visual richness of historic tapestry. Jacquards use programmatic weaving to create complex pattern structures from multiple yarns. Historic prints reproduce archival patterns from the greatest periods of European textile design.
