Types of Trim

Tape and braid are flat, woven trims applied at edges, seams, and borders — the most versatile and widely-used passementerie types. Fringe — including tassel fringe, bullion fringe, and cut fringe — adds pendant movement at drapery hems and cushion edges. Tassel tiebacks hold drapery panels swept to the side. Cord and gimp cover seams and edges with twisted or woven round trims. Embroidered and beaded trims add decorative intricacy to the most formally appointed pieces. Bullion creates the most traditionally opulent fringe expression in twisted cord pendant form. Border trims create decorative frames and panels.
