The company was founded in 1903, in the USA, under the name of Conneaut Leather, with the goal of producing high-quality upholstery leather. The brand produces new collections every year but can also offer custom leather products that are always available for any type of projects specifications. Its products are uniquely designed for accessories and furniture, as well as for interior decorations in different niche markets like automotive, aviation, commercial, hospitality, and residential. Cortina produces the following types of leathers: aniline, hair on hide, heat transfer, metallic, nubuck, pearlized, pigmented, pure aniline, semi-aniline, and suede.

The company headquarters are located in New York City and it has a large manufacturing hub in the Midwest where it produces its products starting with raw materials and customizing them according to specific requirements which include special finishing and cutting. Designers can count on Cortina’s abilities to create luxurious leathers with the right look and performance for their projects while selecting specific colors, finishes, and treatments. Current collections feature more than 650 different ready-made leathers, but can also provide in-house color expertise, stamping, stitching, and proprietary performance treatments.

The renowned designer Virginia Langley in collaboration with Cortina Leathers created The Natural Worlds collection. It features 12 different types of leather with wonderful hues like oceans, sandstone, sunrises, and sunsets, all produced with a textural finish that enhances the natural grain. Each of the twelve options is ideal for creating comfortable and luxurious interiors.

One of the brand’s latest projects is a collaboration with Champalimaud Design to renovate the iconic 5-star hotel The Pierre New York. The hotel is characterized by its simplicity and refinement, and the designer utilized Cortina’s Brava – Muschio and Traverso – Safari to provide a new and elegant look to this Fifth Avenue landmark.
